Rates

SOLA Psychological Consulting accepts cash, check, credit card or health service account (HSA). Full payment is expected at the time of service. If you are interested in using insurance, contact your provider to ensure that you have Out of Network (OON) Benefits. If you do, you might be eligible to receive full or partial reimbursement for your sessions (depending on your deductible). While SOLA does not accept insurance directly, we work with Thrizer (https://www.thrizer.com) who will help clients file claims to receive reimbursement from their insurance companies if they qualify.

Insurance

I do not accept insurance. I accept credit cards, cash, checks, HSA or FSA cards.

Even though I do not accept insurance, often you can receive reimbursement for your therapy sessions from your insurance company.

Here are the steps:

  1. Prior to your first session, contact your insurance company and ask if they cover out-of-network providers.
  2. If they say “yes” to out of network providers, ask “If I see an out of network psychologist/therapist, pay out of pocket and submit a superbill (receipt which contains coding information specifically for insurance companies), will I receive reimbursement.”
  3. If they say yes, then you can either work with Thrizer (https://www.thrizer.com) who will file claims and send you reimbursement on your behalf or you can submit the superbill on your own for reimbursement.

Why don’t I accept insurance?

  1. Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis.  Not everyone who seeks therapy meets criteria for a mental disorder or wants such documentation as part of their medical records.
  2. Insurance companies dictate how many sessions you will receive regardless of your needs or preferences.  By insurance companies controlling session limits, it can significantly interfere with the plan that we’ve created to meet your goals.
  3. Communicating with insurance companies about claims can take hours per week.
  4. Insurance companies set reimbursement rates which are significantly lower than SOLA’s payment rates. This would require me as your therapist to see more clients per week and take away from the flexibility and quality of the services that I am able to provide to you.

I am a contracted provider with the employee assistance program (EAP), Lyra Health. If you have EAP sessions through Lyra Health then you can use those sessions to see me without any cost to you. Contact your employer and Lyra Health to find out how many EAP sessions you have per year and let me know that you will be using these benefits during our consultation.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers must give patients who do not have insurance or who chose not to use insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your healthcare provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises”

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you need to cancel or reschedule a therapy session, you will need to contact me at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. Without advance notice, full payment will be charged for any missed sessions. Lyra Health benefits will sometimes cover one or two no-shows or late cancellation, check with your employer for details of your Lyra Health EAP benefits. Please note that your employer does not always cover late cancellations or no-shows and if it is not covered, you will be responsible for the full session fee out of pocket.
